Lance Howe is a graduate of Tulare High School and South Dakota State University, where he earned degrees in Agricultural Education and Agronomy. He has built a career in natural resource conservation and agricultural sciences, serving in leadership roles that support soil and resource management throughout the region. 

Lance has been an active volunteer in the credit union movement for many years. He served on the Turtle Creek Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee from 2006–2010, including as Chairperson from 2009–2010, before serving on the Board of Directors from 2010–2011. Following the merger with Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, he continued his service and currently serves as Chairperson of the Board and Vice Chairperson/Secretary of the Supervisory Committee.
